BREAKING: A second teenager has died after getting into difficult in the water off Donegal coast

A second teenager has died after encountering difficulties while swimming off the coast of Buncrana, Co Donegal yesterday. The teenager was rescued from the sea following a search operation but passed away in hospital early this morning. The body of another young man was recovered from the water last night.

The incident was reported around 4pm when three teenagers, aged 16 to 19, struggled while swimming. One managed to reach the shore. A multi-agency search and rescue operation was launched, involving two RNLI lifeboats, Mulroy and Greencastle coastguard units, the Rescue 118 helicopter from Sligo, and up to 12 local yachts. The effort was coordinated by Malin Head Coast Guard, with assistance from local vessels.
