
In breaking news tonight, anyone arriving in Ireland without a negative Covid-19 test will be quarantined for up to two weeks in accordance with plans approved by the Cabinet Committee on Covid-19.
Those arriving from Brazil or South Africa will be held in state quarantine hotels for up to 14 days.
The Cabinet Committee also agreed to temporarily suspend all short-duration visa-free travel from South Africa and Brazil.
Whoever arrives without a negative PCR test will be penalized with a fine of up to €2,500 or a possible prison sentence of up to six months.
