A teenager has died after he fell off a cliff edge from the Kerry coast this afternoon.
The body of the 17-year-old, who reportedly slipped while walking, was found by RNLI volunteers after a major search operation involving the Coast Guard, RNLI and other emergency services.
The boy is said to have walked along the shore at Cinn Ard on the Dingle Peninsula with members of his family around 1pm when he tragically slipped and fell.
Emergency services were immediately alerted and the Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter was tasked with helping. Volunteers from Coast Guard units in Dingle and Valentia also assisted in the search, as did volunteers in lifeboats.
Helicopter personnel located the teenager in an inaccessible area at the foot of the cliffs, and his body was removed by members of the Valentia RNLI at around 3pm. An investigation is ongoing.
