BREAKING: British Superman actor Terrence Stamp sadly dies aged 87




Terence Stamp, the Oscar-nominated British actor renowned for his iconic role as General Zod in *Superman* (1978) and *Superman II* (1980), passed away on Sunday morning, August 17, 2025, at the age of 87, his family confirmed. No cause of death was disclosed.

Born in London’s East End in 1938, Stamp rose to fame in the 1960s with acclaimed performances in films like *Billy Budd* (1962), earning an Academy Award nomination, and *The Collector* (1965), for which he won Best Actor at Cannes. His versatile career spanned six decades, including memorable roles in *Far from the Madding Crowd* (1967), *The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert* (1994), and *The Limey* (1999). His final role was in *Last Night in Soho* (2021).

“He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and a writer, that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come,” his family said in a statement to Reuters. They requested privacy during this time.
