Bus Eireann have told their staff that they’re going to impose major cuts from February 20th.
Pay cuts are expected to be at least 10% with other terms and conditions imposed. Unions have described the company’s decision as “warfare”, and have said that they are prepared to strike.
Major cuts include Sunday’s double time reduced from 100% to 20%, rota and shift premium payments will stop and overtime rates will be significantly reduced to time and a quarter with double time now only for public holidays.
Everything else including sick pay will be based on basic salaries, which in themselves are reduced by 10%.
This should be interesting to see how it plays out over the coming 4 weeks.
