Gardai have just given a brief news conference confirming they believe the tragic news of a family of 5 found dead in a house in Cavan is now being treated as a “murder suicide”.
They are investigating the circumstances in which a family of 5 people have been found dead this afternoon in County Cavan.
Two parents, a man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s, and three children (all boys) were discovered in a house at Barcony, Ballyjamesduff shortly after midday.
The children are aged between 6 and 13 years of age and the family are said to be well known and well liked in the area.
This story is developing, and so far the gardai have described the incident as “tragic, and a murder suicide”.
They have declined to go into further detail before informing all family members.
