The UK had its highest daily number of deaths from coronavirus today with 87, with the national total standing at 422.
The Department of Health and Social Affairs released the latest figures on the first day of a national lockdown in the UK to fight COVID-19, the vast majority of new coronavirus deaths coming from England.
Eighty-three of Tuesday’s confirmed coronavirus deaths occurred in England, including two in Scotland, one in Wales and one in Northern Ireland.
The total of 87 is higher than the 55 deaths announced across the UK on Monday.
