The Department of Health have confirmed that there is 40 new cases of coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland.
In an announcement made in the past few minutes the Department of Health have confirmed that 40 new cases of covid-19 have been reported bringing the total in the Republic of Ireland to 169.
The news comes as 11 more cases were confirmed in Northern Ireland earlier today, the total number of cases on the island of Ireland now stands at 214.
According to the Department of Health amongst the new cases 23 are males and 17 are females.
The Department of Health say 25 cases are reported in the East of country, whilst a further 9 are reported in the West and 6 in the South of the country.
