Doctor tells high Court that a Dublin Hospital may have a case of the coronavirus

It must be stressed that there is currently no confirmed case of the coronavirus in Ireland or in Northern Ireland.

Every country around the world is bracing, preparing and trying to combat the effects of the deadly coronavius.

Today in Dublin, High Court president Mr Justice Peter Kelly was told by a doctor during a hearing that he had just received a text message to say that a Dublin hospital, “potentially” has a case of the coronavirus with a patient in their A&E department.

According to Dublin Live, the doctor was giving evidence during a hearing on whether an elderly patient with dementia should be moved to a nursing home or stay where she is.

It’s understood that the area where the patient was to be moved is not where the potential coronavirus is located.

While there is no confirmed case of the virus in Ireland, the name and location of the hospital has not been made public at this time.

It’s understood that the HSE are said to be prepared for a moderate breakout of the virus in Ireland should it occur.

However, it’s understood that Dr Kevin Kelleher, assistant national director of Public Health and Child Health, said he hadn’t any idea about the case.
