A firefighter has been seriously injured whilst trying to battle the blaze at Notre Dame Cathedral, it has been reported.
Although reports are unconfirmed, Reuters news agency say source told them that an emergency service worker was seriously injured during the blaze.
It is understood that the French Interior Minister confirmed that the firefighter was seriously injured in the blaze which has been raging for more than three hours.
Meanwhile further reports in the French capital say that the fire may have begun in the attic of the iconic cathedral.
