In awful breaking news this afternoon, the first person to die in Ireland from coronavirus has been announced.
It’s understood the patient was in a hospital in the east of the country and had been treated for a number of days.
The patient presented in the hospital with breathing problems and was tested for coronavirus, which came back positive for Covid-19.
The HSE are releasing sparse details other than the patient was female with a previous health issue and that she was an elderly woman. She is understood to have died on Wednesday morning. RIP
