A former female member of the Irish defence forces has been detained in Syria.
According to RTÉ News, the woman who is alleged to have joined ISIS, left the forces five years ago was detained in Northern Syria in the past few days.
It is understood the woman held the rank as private during her time in the defence forces.
Meanwhile the Department of Foreign Affairs have revealed that they have been made aware of the incident, but have yet to either confirm nor deny the reports at this time.
