

The verdict has been given in the trial of French ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy and two former associates who were accused of corruption.
The former President has been given a year’s jail sentence, which he will serve near Paris.
The 66-yr-old was accused of trying to bribe a magistrate, Gilbert Azibert, by offering a prestigious job in Monaco in return for information about a criminal inquiry into his political party.
Mr Sarkozy denied wrongdoing, however the court has seen it differently and he has been sentenced to a year in prison.
