France has officially gone into lockdown amid the spread of the Coronavirus.
In an announcement made on Saturday, Prime Minister Édouard Philippe confirmed that the public will only allowed to go outside in order to get essential supplies.
Under the lockdown workers are being advised to work from home and restrict their movements to as little as possible.
It is understood that all non essential shops, bars, restaurants and cafés will be closed for the foreseeable future.
The news comes after the French Government previously banned public gatherings of more than 100 people.
Although public transport will remain operational, the Government say a number restrictions will be put in place.
