
A motorcyclist in his 50s has lost his life in a road accident on the M50 in west Dublin.
Emergency services and Gardaà responded to reports of a collision between a car and a motorcycle on the southbound lanes near Junction 7, at the Lucan/Palmerstown exit, shortly after 12:30pm.
The motorcyclist was sadly declared deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have since examined the site, and the southbound lanes have been reopened, according to a Garda statement.
The local coroner has been informed, and a post-mortem is scheduled.
Gardaà are calling for witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly those with dash cam footage.
They’ve asked for road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from the M50 in either direction at the time are urged to provide it to the investigating GardaÃ.

The M50 southbound, which was closed for several hours following the crash, is now accessible again.
