
A man in his 40s has died following a fatal collision involving an e-scooter and a car in Waterford city on Christmas Day.
The incident occurred at approximately 11am at the junction of Manor Hill (also known as Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road.
The e-scooter rider was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where he was later pronounced dead.
The car driver, a man in his 80s, was also transported to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
No other injuries were reported.
The road remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by forensic collision investigators, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly any road users with dash-cam or other camera footage who were in the area of Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road between 10:45am and 11:15am.
