GardaĆ are investigating the discovery of the bodies of a man in his 40s and an 11-yr-old boy at separate homes in west Dublin.
According to RTĆ reports, emergency services were called to a house in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot, at around 8:30am on January 8, 2026, where the man’s body was found in the back garden.

The boy’s body was subsequently discovered at a house in Clondalkin.
It is believed the deceased are father and son, who had previously been reported missing for a short period last year before being located safe and well.
GardaĆ suspect the child died violently and that the man may have taken his own life afterwards, though post-mortem examinations will determine the exact course of the investigation.
Both scenes have been preserved for forensic examination, with the man’s body removed to the city morgue and the boy’s remaining at the Clondalkin scene.
The Office of the State Pathologist has been requested to assist.
