
A 12-yr-old girl passed away after encountering difficulties while swimming in the River Suir in Newcastle, Co Tipperary, around 4:20pm today. She was airlifted by Rescue 117 to Cork University Hospital in serious condition but later died.

Gardaà are preparing a file for the coroner’s court. Emergency services, including gardaÃ, the Coast Guard’s Rescue 117, the National Ambulance Service, and Clonmel Fire Station’s swift water rescue team, responded to the incident.
