Gardai have confirmed they have arrested a man aged in his 20s in connection with the murder of 90-yr-old Paddy Lyons.
They upgraded their investigation of 90-yr-old Paddy Lyons death to an murder inquiry this afternoon.
Gardai say Paddy was last seen on Friday evening and that a man and woman raised the alarm around 4am on Sunday morning. They have since arrested a man in connection with the murder but no further details have been released.
Paddy was found dead alone in his house in Waterford over the weekend.
A home-help carer visited Mr Lyons’ farmhouse in Ballysaggart, Lismore, Saturday afternoon and found the farmer slumped in his chair.
The 90-yr-old is said to have been previously burgled and gardai have said they are now treating the man’s death as a murder investigation.
