A 14-year-old girl has sadly passed away this evening following a swimming accident in Co Louth.
According to RTÉ News, the young girl sadly passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda following the incident which occurred at Seapoint Beach in Termonfeckin this afternoon.
It is understood that emergency services were alerted to an incident shortly after 3pm when the young got into difficulties whilst swimming with friends.
Although crews from two lifeboats along with an Irish Coast Guard helicopter recovered the girl from the water, she was sadly pronounced dead this evening.
