Gardaí in Drogheda Co Louth have confirmed sadly confirmed that a 7-year-old girl has died after she was hit by a car this afternoon.
In a statement released via the Garda Press Office, Gardai say the girl died due to the extent of her injuries at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
It is understood the incident occurred at approximately 2:30pm in Boyle O’Reilly Terrace which is located adjacent to the hospital.
It is believed that the girl was playing with a number of children near the vehicle it rolled over her.
Gardaí say they are treating the girl’s death as a tragic accident.
