A nine-year-old girl has sadly died and an eight-year-old boy has been seriously injured following a road traffic incident in Co Galway.
It is understood the two children were seriously injured in an accident involving two cyclists and a car on the R358 Ballinasloe to Ahascragh Road, Co Galway, at approximately 11:55am this morning.
Although the two children were brought to Portiuncula Hospital, it is believed that the young girl died a short time later.
Gardaí say the young boy currently remains in serious condition in hospital.
They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
