The outgoing Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has not been re-elected in Wicklow – losing a seat he first got in 2011.
The outgoing Fianna Fáil TD was beaten by Fine Gael’s Timmy Edwards.
Donnelly was first elected in the constituency as an Independent candidate but then changed to Fianna Fáil.
As one social media user said; “it’s the best result of the election”.
