A second American pilot has crashed in Iran, in what’s turning out to be a disastrous war for President Donald Trump.

A U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet was shot down over southwestern Iran on Good Friday, marking the first confirmed loss of a manned American aircraft in the ongoing conflict.

The two-person crew— a pilot and weapons systems officer—ejected from the stricken jet. U.S. forces quickly launched a combat search-and-rescue operation and successfully recovered one crew member from Iranian territory. The fate of the second airman remained unknown as efforts continued into the evening.

Iranian state media released images of wreckage and an ejection seat, claiming an air-defense system brought down the aircraft. Officials urged civilians to search for and report any “enemy pilots,” reportedly offering a substantial bounty for their capture.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the nearly five-week-old war. U.S. and Israeli sources confirmed the downing while declining further operational details. President Trump was briefed on the situation. The rescue of one crew member provided a partial success for American forces, though concern for the missing second pilot remains high.
