BREAKING: Judge orders immediate arrest of Enoch Burke and to be taken to court for going back to the school

Enoch Burke, the suspended teacher from Wilson’s Hospital School in Co Westmeath, returned to the school gates for a second day today, just hours after his release from Mountjoy Prison.

Released on Wednesday by Mr Justice Brian Cregan to prepare his legal challenge against a Disciplinary Appeals Panel reviewing his dismissal, Burke defied the condition not to trespass. He appeared at the school less than 24 hours later, prompting the school to seek his rearrest for breaching court injunctions.

Barrister Rosemary Mallon told the High Court Burke’s actions disrupted operations and ignored the rule of law. The judge ordered his arrest and court appearance, though Burke remained at the gates, insisting “this is where I should be.” He has spent over 550 days imprisoned since 2022 in the ongoing dispute.
