The legendary Hollywood actress Doris Day has sadly passed away at the age of 97.
According to reports in the US, the news of Day’s death was confirmed by the Doris Day Animal Foundation.
In a statement released this afternoon, the foundation said Day, sadly passed away at her home in Camel Valley, California.
According to a spokesperson for the charity, Day had been in good physical health until recently when she contracted a serious case of pneumonia.
Day is best remembered for her roles Clamaity Jane and Pillow Talk.
The actress who has stayed out of the public eye in recent years, recently told The Hollywood Reporter that Calamity Jane was one of her favourite roles.
Day told the publication that her work on the iconic film saw her recieve fan letters from girls as young as eight years old.
