Leicester is the first British county in the UK to again see covid-19 restrictions after an outbreak of cases. Schools and shops that are not essential will be closed tomorrow. On Monday evening, the health minister in the House of Commons said that the non-essential retail stores in Leicester would be closed again on Tuesday. Measures also apply to remote areas of the city such as Oadby, Birstall and Glenfield. .
Matt Hancock said that Leicester now has cases that are ‘three times higher than the next highest city’ which is very concerning.
