The Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan has expressed concern at the alarming number of rising confirmed coronavirus cases over the past number of days.
Holohan said he has particular concern for how young people are acting citing that he himself has seen large groups of young people congregate with no social distancing taking place.
Earlier, the Department of Health confirmed that no one has died from coronavirus today and 24 more cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Republic of Ireland.
In an announcement made this evening the Department confirmed that there are currently 25,443 confirmed cases in the Republic of Ireland and a total 1,731 deaths.
