A man carrying a knife was arrested in County Louth last night after Gardaí used less-lethal force to resolve a public order disturbance.
The incident occurred around 9:30pm in a car park in Dundalk, where uniformed officers and members of the Armed Support Unit responded.
Gardaí said they first tried to calm the situation through dialogue, but the man refused to cooperate. Officers from the Armed Support Unit then fired a single 40mm less-lethal round, which enabled them to safely disarm him.
The man was taken into custody and is being held at Dundalk Garda Station.
