This morning, an individual was taken into custody in Galway following an alleged threat against Simon Harris.
It’s understood the threat was posted on social media and related to Harris and his family.

Many say that it more than likely was just a harmless comment, but the state appears to be taking it seriously with gardai arresting the man this morning.
The threat, which was made online, makes reference to a weapon and calls for harm to be done to Harris, his spouse, and their kids.
The Taoiseach vowed not to let his position stop him and issued a warning to social media giants, saying that Ireland will “hit where it hurts” if they don’t accept accountability for threatening and damaging information on their platforms. Regulations are likely to be in place by the end of the year.
