BREAKING: Martin announces phases of reopening but nothing definite – “We need to use March to drive down the numbers”

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has addressed the nation and announced a phased exit of lockdown with Level 5 restrictions to go on until April 5th with an easing to be reviewed at that time.

Over the course of March, all schools will reopen with childcare to reopen too.

Martin says that with vaccines, the end is now in sight. He says that he knows we will get through this, heavily emphasising that everyone who can get a vaccine will get a vaccine.

He said that the country must drive down the numbers in March. There is very little room for optimism because Martin wouldn’t give any definitive date for an actual lifting of lockdown entirely. He said that around April 5th, they will look at lifting the 5km limit and possibly allow some sporting events to start.
