BREAKING: Met Eireann warn motorists and pedestrians of extreme winds, snow and ice as roads are lethal and many homes without power




Met Eireann have issued multiple weather warnings today as an icy storm has gripped the entire country.

Temperatures of below freezing to just 1c hand engulfed Ireland with up to 10,000 properties without power as a result of strong winds throughout the night.

Snow and ice have left roads, in particular B roads in a very dangerous condition with motorists asked to be extremely careful.

A status Yellow wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

Also a Status Yellow snow and ice warning is now thin in place for Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

A Status Yellow rainfall warning is also in place for counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford, with a risk of river and coastal flooding.

People are asked to share this information with their friends, in particular those who’ll be on the roads or out walking today.
