With Brexit fully implemented, the UK Government now have full control of their borders. They are no longer governed by common EU laws around EU border controls.

Matt Hancock, the UK’s Health Secretary has announced that asylum seekers from countries listed as high risk “Red Zone” will be denied entry into the UK.
He has also announced that UK residents returning from countries of concern will be forced to pay £1,750 per person for compulsory hotel quarantine. The payment must be booked before the UK resident leaves for their outbound journey, reports the Metro.

Mr Hancock said: ‘A new arrival to the UK who’s been in a red list country in the last ten days, who is not a resident of the United Kingdom or of Ireland, or a UK citizen, will be denied entry and will be held in hotel quarantine until they can return to the country from which they have arrived.’ Asylum seekers from Covid-19 ‘red list’ countries will be sent back.
