
George Floyd, the African-American whose death in police custody sparked global protests against racism, was known as a “gentle giant” and “a symbol of the oppressed’s fight for justice”, funeral has taken place in his hometown from Houston, Texas.
Family and friends, mostly dressed in white, approached a microphone to describe Floyd as a loving, larger-than-life figure who deserves justice after being dying police custody in Minneapolis on May 25th.
Floyd, 46, died after a white policeman held his knee against his neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds. 44-yr-old police officer Derek Chauvin was charged with second degree murder and three others for assistance.
