The coast guard and rescue services have managed to pull off a great rescue effort near the Dingle Penisula in Co Kerry tonight.
Two hikers went missing shortly after teatime on Saturday night after the alarm was raised when they failed to return to their car. A man and woman were trapped by darkness on a mountain in the Peninsula.
A large scale rescue effort was launched with the coast guard, gardai and local rescue workers attempting the rescue, which thankfully ended successful tonight.
The search focused mostly on the mountains surrounding Annascaul Lake. The man and woman have been helped down the mountain and are being looked over by medical personnel.
