A man remains in garda custody this morning following his arrest during the ongoing investigation of the murder of a mother and two children in Dublin in October.

The man aged in his 30s is being questioned by gardai, who are due to update media later today.

The investigation began after the bodies of Seema Banu, 37, her daughter Asfira Syed, 11, and her son Faizan Syed, 6, were discovered at Llewellyn Court in Rathfarnham, south Dublin, October 28.

Gardaí said in a statement that a man in his 30s was arrested today and is being held at the Dundrum Garda station under Section 4 of the 1984 Criminal Justice Act.

Seema Banu and her family had lived in the South Dublin area for almost a year. The two boys attended a local primary school in Ballinteer. The family moved here from Dubai in February but were originally from India.
