BREAKING: Motorists advised to be extremely careful overnight and tomorrrow as Met Eireann issues nationwide snow and ice warning




Met Éireann has issued a nationwide snow and ice warning for tonight following a seven-county warning currently in effect.

The “Yellow Status” warning will go into effect today from 6am tomorrow morning and will apply until at least 6pm on Sunday.

Met Éireann said winter falls with some accumulations are possible for all five Connacht counties, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath and Meath.

Heavy frost and ice fell last night, even on protected areas with rain turning to sleet and snow, particularly in Connacht.

Flurries of rain, sleet and snow will spread today and it will be cold with altitudes of only 5C. People are advised to share this with their friends.

Met Éireann warns of snow, hail, sleet and snowfall with frost and dangerous conditions.

People are asked to share this information with their friends, particularly those who’ll be on the roads overnight and tomorrow morning.
