BREAKING: Met Eireann issue snow and ice warning for the majority of the country




A yellow status advisory weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for 18 counties, with temperatures having fallen to below freezing overnight.

The warning is effect from 6am Sunday morning and will remain in effect until at least 6pm Sunday evening.

Met Éireann said winter falls with some accumulations are possible for all five Connacht counties, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath and Meath.

Heavy frost and ice fell last night, even on protected areas with rain turning to sleet and snow, particularly in Connacht.

Flurries of rain, sleet and snow will spread today and it will be cold with altitudes of only 5C. People are advised to share this with their friends.
