
A tragic tour bus crash on Interstate 90 near Pembroke, New York, claimed multiple lives, including at least one child, and injured over 50 passengers on Friday, August 22, 2025. The bus, carrying approximately 50 tourists from Niagara Falls to New York City, overturned on the highway, about 25 miles east of Buffalo, according to New York State Police.
The crash, which occurred around 1 p.m., involved a collision with a tractor-trailer, leading to multiple ejections and entrapments. Emergency responders, including ambulances and medical helicopters, rushed to the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals. State Trooper James O’Callaghan reported that the passengers were primarily of Indian, Chinese, and Filipino descent, and interpreters were brought in to assist.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul called the incident “tragic” and urged drivers to seek alternate routes as the interstate was closed for investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with no immediate details on contributing factors. Authorities are working to identify victims and reunite families, as the community mourns this devastating loss.
