It is understood today that the country will get an additional public holiday this year on March 18th.
According to RTE, an event will take place on the day to commemorate those who lost their lives during the pandemic.
It is also expected that frontline health workers who served onsite in an environment that was exposed to the virus will receive a once-off payment of €1000. The money will be paid on a tax-free basis.
