The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are a popular pair but it seems that their popularity may have gotten too much for them.
The couple have announced they will step back as “senior” royals and divide their time between the UK and North America.
Buckingham Palace released a statements saying that the couple plan to “carve out a progressive new role within this institution” and that they intend to “work to become financially independent”.
On their Instagram page, the couple said they made the decision “after many months of reflection and internal discussions”.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.
“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”
