The FlyDubai Boeing 738 was flying from Dubai when it missed the runway as it attempted to land at 03:50 local time (00:50 Irish time) this morning.
Poor visibilty and high winds are said to be major factors for the crash. Unconfirmed reports suggest everyone on board was killed in the disaster.
Other flights have been diverted away from the airport.
About 100 rescue workers are at the site of the crash and the fire has been extinguished.
