In what can only be described as truly devastating news for family and friends, Scarlet Faulkner has died in hospital.
The 29-yr-old woman was left in critical condition for the past number of weeks, after she was badly assaulted near Birdhill, Co Tipperary on March 21.
She was rushed to Cork University Hospital where her family supported her for the past number of weeks.
Her family said that treatments were not working over the weekend, with her sister-in-law announcing today that Ms Faulkner sadly has passed away.
The family have thanked the public for their support.
Two females, a 40-yr-old woman and a 16-yr-old female remain in custody in connection to the assault.
