
Two anglers have died while fishing near Doonbeg in County Clare.
The Irish Coast Guard received a report this afternoon that two men had fallen into the water at Pulleen Bay.
The alarm was raised at 2:15 pm.
The men are understood to have been fishing off rocks at the time.
A search operation was launched involving a Coast Guard helicopter, the Kilkee and Doolin coast guard units, and the Aran Island Lifeboat.
The helicopter located the two bodies at around 4 pm, and they were recovered from the water by the lifeboat.
Sea conditions at the time were reported to be very rough.
The Coast Guard said that gardaà are liaising with the families of both men.
