It’s emerged this morning that a number of Irish people are staying as paid guests in a hotel in Tenerife that’s been put on lockdown in dramatic circumstances after a case of coronavirus was detected.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Tenerife hotel was put on lockdown after a coronavirus case was detected.

Residents at the H10 Costa Adeje Palace, a very popular resort, have been told to stay in their rooms, and that no one is allowed outside the hotel for the time being.

Up to 20 Irish people are said to be stuck in the hotel and bound to their rooms until further notice.

The coronavirus keeps spreading worldwide, prompting fears of a global pandemic.
