Authorities in Thailand have confirmed that a diver has sadly passed away during attempts to rescue 12 boys and their coach from a cave.
The volunteer diver named as Samarn Gunan, sadly passed away after his oxygen supplies ran out whilst returning through the deep waters inside the cave.
It is understood that Mr Gunan a former Thai navy seal diver was delivering oxygen canisters during a scheduled mission overnight.
Although a number of attempts were made by rescue workers, Mr Gunan sadly passed away.
The latest development has once again highlighted the seriousness of the situation at a hand as a number of rescue teams are frantically trying to pump out water from the flooded cave in an attempt to rescue the boys.
However authorities say they still remain hopeful that the boys and their coach can be rescued from the cave which is approximately half a mile beneath the earth’s surface.
