BREAKING: “We’re all going to die, we have to live for something” – Enoch Burke returned to Wilson’s Hospital School where he thanked supporters

Dismissed Irish teacher Enoch Burke has once again appeared at Wilson’s Hospital School today, Friday, November 21, 2025, in direct defiance of a High Court arrest warrant issued earlier this week ordering his immediate imprisonment for contempt of court.

In a video posted to his official X account (@EnochBurke) this evening, Burke is seen speaking outside the school grounds, condemning the court’s decision and framing his actions as a stand against “anti-Christian ideology” in education. The nearly 3.5-minute clip, captioned “BREAKING: Enoch Burke speaks today outside Wilson’s Hospital School,” shows Burke addressing the camera while standing near the school’s entrance.

Burke’s appearance comes just three days after High Court Judge Brian Cregan ruled on November 18 that he must be arrested and jailed for a fourth time. The judge described Burke’s repeated trespassing as a “fanatical campaign against transgenderism,” labeling him an “intruder” stalking the school and a “potential danger” to staff and pupils. Previous measures—including over 500 days in prison, fines exceeding €225,000, and hired security—have failed to deter him.

Gardaí have attempted to execute the warrant multiple times, visiting the Burke family home in Castlebar, Co Mayo, on November 19 and 20. Family members filmed these encounters, posting videos online where they confronted officers and asserted Burke’s religious rights.

As of this evening, Burke remains at large despite today’s public appearance at the school, raising questions about the enforcement of the court order.

In the newly released footage, Burke reiterates his refusal to comply with the school’s former directive to use “they/them” pronouns for a transitioning student, a policy he says violates his Christian beliefs. He accuses Principal Niamh McShane and the judiciary of disregarding his constitutional rights and criticizes Ireland’s religious leaders for their “treacherous silence” on transgender issues in schools.

Burke calls on viewers to “challenge your religious leaders and to stand up for your sons and daughters” as he faces impending imprisonment.

Burke was sacked from the Church of Ireland boarding school in 2023 for gross misconduct related to the pronoun dispute. A permanent injunction has barred him from the premises since 2022, yet he continues to arrive—often at the start of terms or on significant dates—claiming he is reporting for work.

The school continues to pay Burke’s full salary pending his appeal against dismissal, though portions are garnished for fines. Daily security costs, partially reimbursed by the Department of Education, add to the burden on the institution.

This latest incident underscores the protracted standoff, with Burke’s supporters hailing him as a defender of religious freedom and critics viewing his actions as obsessive disruption prioritizing personal beliefs over court authority and school safety.

As Gardaí continue efforts to locate and arrest him, further court proceedings—including potential criminal contempt charges against Burke and family members for courtroom disruptions—loom. Burke’s wrongful dismissal appeal remains postponed amid the related legal battles.
