BREAKING: Winter is here! Heavy snow on the way as temps drop to -6




Temperatures are set to drop even further as Met Éireann has issued yellow warnings for snow and ice.

The national forecaster said temperatures are expected to fall as low as -5 degrees, bringing dangerous travel conditions and a risk of black ice, reports Breaking News.

Connacht, along with Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Louth, will be subject to a yellow snow and ice warning from 8.22am on Sunday until 11am on Monday. Met Éireann has cautioned that visibility may be poor and travel conditions hazardous.

A yellow low-temperature and ice warning has also been put in place for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow and Munster. The warning will apply from 5pm on Sunday until 11am on Monday, reports Breaking News.

Temperatures are expected to drop to between -2 and -5 degrees, with sharp or severe frost, icy patches and black ice likely, especially overnight and during the early morning hours.

In Northern Ireland, a yellow snow and ice warning covering all counties will remain in effect until 12pm on Monday, reports Breaking News.
