Three people have died in separate fatal road traffic collisions across counties Monaghan, Limerick, and Tipperary today.

A woman in her 30s died in a collision between a car and a lorry on the N2 at Mullaghnee, Annalitten, near Castleblayney, at approximately 8am.

The woman, the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for a post-mortem.

A man in his 50s, the driver of the lorry, has been arrested and is currently detained at a Garda station in the northwest.

The N2 remains closed in the area, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, especially any road users with dash-cam or other camera footage who were travelling on the N2 between Castleblayney and Broomfield between 7:30am and 8:15am. Contact Castleblayney Garda Station on 042 77200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 66-61-11, or any Garda station.

In a separate crash, a man in his 20s was killed and four others injured in a two-car collision on the N21 at Ballymurragh West, near Templeglantine, at around 12:50am.

The deceased man, who was driving one of the vehicles alone, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.

The four occupants of the second car—two teenage girls, a man in his late teens, and another man in his 20s—were injured. The three teenagers sustained serious injuries, while the man in his 20s has non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to University Hospital Limerick and University Hospital Kerry for treatment.

The N21 is closed pending a forensic examination, with local diversions in operation.

A man in his 20s has died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Tipperary on Wednesday evening.

The crash occurred on the N24 at Cordangan Cross, near Tipperary town, at approximately 9:45pm.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The road remains closed for a forensic collision investigation, with local diversions in operation.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and are particularly interested in any information regarding the movements of a grey 2005-registered Toyota Yaris in the vicinity of Tipperary town and the Bansha Road between 9pm and 10pm.

Road users with dash-cam or other camera footage from the area during that time are urged to contact Tipperary Garda Station on 062 80670, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-66-61-11.
