A family syndicate based in Co Cavan has won the €17 million EuroMillions jackpot.
The Anglo Celt newspaper has reported that the winners are a father, son and daughter from the county, reports RTE.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was bought at the Lidl store in Creighan on the Athlone Road in Cavan on the day of the draw, Friday 12 December.
The newspaper said a statement issued through the family’s solicitor, James M Donohoe and Company, said that “the family are over the moon”, reports RTE.
“This is a life changing sum of money to win. They are absolutely delighted,” the statement continued, reports RTE.
The winning ticket was signed yesterday afternoon in the presence of all family members before contact was made with Lottery HQ, reports RTE.
The National Lottery has confirmed to RTÉ News that the jackpot winners have been in touch with its Prize Claims team.
Arrangements are now being put in place for the winners to collect their prize, reports RTE.
This is the second Irish EuroMillions jackpot win of the year, following a €250m win by a player in June.
It also represents Cavan’s second millionaire in the space of two weeks, after a Daily Million top prize was won on 30 November, reports RTE.
